Unreleased: Live at Park Studios
“This Guy’s music literally jumps from the speakers”
- Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
Birmingham born neo-blues and electro-folk songsmith, Alex Rainsford, has wasted no time in carving his path through the industry.
Flying solo without any representation, the 24 year old boasts a bucket list that includes regular spins on BBC Introducing and 6 Music, sharing the stage with Bastille and Willy Mason, and touring the UK and Europe.
Ahead of 2018 Alex’s vision has expanded, with his debut live record - ‘Live at Park Studios’.
Featuring a seven-piece ensemble the creative offering is ambitious yet stripped back, allowing both song-craft and countermelody to shine through the instrumental arrangements.
Cut in one evening session within the historic Gem building in Birmingham’s Jewelry Quarter, all producer Alastair Jamieson had to do was press record and ride the faders.
The whole session was also filmed – with live performance videos set to accompany each of the three songs.
Explaining his thinking behind the Live at Park Studios EP, Alex said:
“I wanted to showcase my songs in a raw, unaltered format, giving the melodies and lyrics the best chance to resonate with people.
“Initially I was nervous as there’s so much at stake in a live recording, but having that sense of vulnerability gave the session real energy.
“I think this authenticity shines through in the tracks, and working with such a talented group of musicians and filmmakers enabled my vision to be brought to life.
“I couldn’t be more excited to unveil what we’ve been working towards and taking the songs on the road. There’ll be plenty of content coming out in 2018, so watch this space!”
